It's a random tuesday afternoon, and it is snowing cats and dogs (i don't know if that saying applies to snow but whatever). I just got both of my kids down for an afternoon nap... thank you Lord! Can you believe it's February already? I honestly don't know where the time goes. Lucy Jane is going to be One next month... Oh my gosh. I am really trying to slow down and cherish every moment with my precious family, because life really does slip away from you.
We spent Christmas in Kansas with our families and had a wonderful time. We rang in the New year and then packed up the car and headed back to Michigan. January was really cold and I think maybe we celebrated my 27th Birthday...UGH...! Damen has been gone more than ever, he is chin deep in surgery 24/7!
Here are some pics over the last few months!
Much love!

It's been a while...
Well it's been a while since I (even) visited my own blog. Sad, I know. But I guess I have been in a bit of a whirlwind since February. Here is a summarized update of our lives over the last 9 months or so...
February flew by with no problems to speak of, excluding those of normal 9 month pregnancy woes. I was very ready to meet Lucy Jane by the time March rolled around... Due to various factors... our doctor decided to schedule a C section. I was beyond nervous for this, and it turns out i wasn't even fully prepared for the long and painful recovery. But sure enough I did recover... and three weeks after LuLu was born we packed up 2 cars and a U-Haul and moved to the great state of Michigan. That was a adventure in itself... a two year old, a 3 week old, a mother in law and me and Damen. Enough said. We made it there, got all moved in and have begun our lives as Northerners. Jack is now Three and a half.... and thriving. He is going to two- day a week preschool and absolutely loves it. He is the most inquisitive child i've ever met... he often asks me questions that I couldn't fathom the answer to. It keeps me on my toes! Lucy Just turned 8 months. I had forgotten how much i love this stage. She is sitting up, crawling and babbling a mile a minute. I love being a mom to these two, life really couldn't be any sweeter.
We just spent Thanksgiving with some friends from the Island... and it was a blast. It was so good to be with friends. We are heading back to Kansas in two weeks to celebrate Christmas with our families. We are very excited and are anxious for Damen to finish up his OBGYN rotation so we can hit the road.

Oh, the little things in life...
Sooo, since i don't have a house, and i rarely see my husband. I decided to try and stay busy.... by turning a spare room at my parents house into a "pseudo baby-girl room". It really has just been a work in progress... and it's not done, but...i bought a crib set a couple months ago... then a dresser... then some clothes... a few blankets, and just decided to kinda put it all together for a hodge- podge sweet baby room =) My mom has been my partner in crime, and i couldn't have done it without her! I thought i would share a few of the pics so you can see how i am attempting to "nest" my way through these last few weeks!

Elmo-mania
Jack got these ridiculous Elmo slippers for Christmas, and I kid you not he will wear nothing else. I think they might disappear tonight while he is sleeping =)

Starting it back up...
Hi All! Trying to start this blog back up... ! It's been over a year since I have updated, or even thought about writing on here. So i have a lot to update! Since our last post... We have finished up our time on the island of St Maarten... and Damen is officially finished with his second year of Medical School! YAY! Thank the Lord. It was a long and difficult two years, but worth it in every way. Its amazing how fast time goes in retrospect. Jack is now Two and a half... amazing. He is talking up a storm, and exploring his world in new ways everyday. It's so fun for us to see the world through his eyes. Since we have moved home to the states Jack has learned about things that he never got the chance to experience on the island... like garage doors, and vacuum cleaners. It never get's old seeing him quizzically look at the dishwasher and say "what's that"?
We are excited to share that we are adding a new member to our family...Baby Lucy... who arrives in March. Most days i am so thrilled, and can't wait for her to get here =)... and some days i think i must be crazy.
It was such a nice Christmas this year... Jack really is starting to understand what this Santa thing is all about. He lovvvves Christmas... because to him Christmas means presents. So every morning for a week, (after Christmas) he would pop out of bed and say "It's Christmas!!".... and i would have to explain to him that Christmas is only one day a year. Needless to say, he was disappointed.
Now that the holidays are over we had to get back to reality. Damen left last week for Chicago ... sigh... to attend an intensive study session for 4 weeks. He is there to better prepare himself for the USMLE step 1 (set of boards) he is going to take in February. We miss him terribly, but know he's gotta do what he's gotta do.
But all in all, life really is sweet for us. We are all happy and healthy, with no major complaints. I will keep this updated on all the upcoming excitement in our lives (haha).... Until then!
